It is an old house 1920 s 2 story that had 2 layers of lathe and plaster on it.
Drywall extends past door jamb.
As an amazon associate i make.
The ripped out the plaster and put in drywall and now all of the jambs protrude past the drywall.
So the outside edge of the trim would be on intact dw but under the bulk of the trim the dw was smashed down.
Not everything is perfect.
Tools used on this job.
For areas where the jam was slightly short he would take a razor blade and score the drywall about 1 4 in from the edge of where the trim would sit then take a hammer and punch down the dw even with the jam.
Measure at several spots on the doorjamb and use the largest dimension.
Measure the distance from the edge of the doorjamb to the face of the drywall to determine the thickness of the jamb extension.
It s important to know what to do in less than ideal situations.
I have a homeowner who has window and exterior door jambs that extend past the drywall by about 1 1 2 inches.
